The 2019 NBA Playoffs witnessed another spectacular game last night. It was game 3 in the Western Conference Semifinals between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Denver Nuggets. With the series being tied at 1-1, game 3 was set to be played in Portland.
Right away from the start, both teams showed their high class on both sides off the floor. At halftime the score was 48 – 47 in favor of Portland. The game continued to be as tight as in the first half. At the end of the regular playtime the game was tied at 102 – 102, which meant we had to go to overtime. For the first time since 1953, it took 4 overtimes in total, of each 5 minutes, to determine a winner. It finally was Portland’s Rodney Hood who buried a game-winning late 3-Pointer, before Seth Curry closed the game for good with 2 made free throws. The final score was 138 – 136 for Portland.
Players of both teams played on the highest level, especially Denver Nugget Center Nikola Jokic who had himself a huge Triple-Double with 33 points, 18 rebounds and 14 assists for the night. On the other side of the floor Damian Lillard showed up once more by scoring 28 points, however, the biggest impact on the Portland squad had CJ McCollum by scoring huge 41 points in total.
In the other game of the night, the Milwaukee Bucks won 123 to 116 against the home-playing Boston Celtics. The next games between Portland and Denver will be held on Monday the 6th May at 1AM CET.
